Thing is…she’s clearly nervous (duh) and she wants it too much. She’s trying too hard. And she’s trying to sing in a way that she isn’t used to - she sings pop/country. Not rock. There’s no growl…there’s no attitude. Joan just fuckin wails and makes it look so effortless, while Miley is trying so fucking hard. I mean, good on her. Not a fan, kind of baffled by the duet, but fuck it. She’s lucky as shit. Maybe Joan talked some sense into her…

I was never crazy about shooting live concerts. The photos were a dime a dozen. I was shooting really wide and I wanted to capture everything at this Runaways concert in 1978 at The Roxy. I did not want to miss a beat of Joan Jett in action! Put this one on your bedroom walls!!
